June has been a busy month for progress on housing in Vancouver! We’re incredibly excited to get started on four new housing projects

Creating affordable and social housing for those who keep our city running has been a top priority for Mayor Kennedy Stewart - it is fantastic to continue delivering on it across the city.

In Marpole, 100 homes developed for seniors, families and people with disabilities are in the works with Brightside Homes. With double the homes of the previous building, this is brilliant news for people in the area.

Over in Yaletown, in collaboration with the leadership of the Ismaili community, we’ve approved the transformation of a two-story building and parking lot into 193 social housing units! This new building will be complete with an early learning space as well as dedicated places to worship.

This month I was proud to support  119 new homes specifically for working families in South Vancouver built by Catalyst Community Developments Society. This phenomenal project is thanks to our work with Federal Housing Minister Ahmed Hussen and Minister and MP for Vancouver South, Harjit Sajjan. By working together with the Federal government we are delivering for the people of Vancouver.

At Arbutus and 20th, we’ve got a hugely exciting project underway -  5 luxury homes will be turned into 116 rental units with 20% of these new homes set aside for middle-income folks forever!

These projects are how we will continue making Vancouver a place where people can stay in the neighbourhoods they grew up in and welcome people from around the world. Vancouver must be a place that works for everyone - across the city.
